tattoo removal aftercare

Tattoo laser removal aftercare products with sign behind

After each treatment, I highly recommend aftercare is taken seriously. Your skin’s exposure to the laser is to be considered the same as a second-degree burn. You may experience some redness, swelling and sometimes slight scabbing. This is a normal result while your body works to eliminate and process the fragmented tattoo pigment.

Following your laser tattoo removal treatment, the treated skin will be cooled with an ice pack, antiseptic powder will be applied to the treated area and a non-stick dressing will be applied.

In order to get the best results possible, I suggest:

The first 24-48 hours

  • Leave the non-stick dressing on the skin.

  • Avoid excessive heat to the skin. DO NOT exercise, take a hot bath/shower or use a sauna

  • Do not expose the treated skin to the sun and keep it covered at all times.

  • Do not pick or scratch the treated skin, avoid any injury to the skin.

After 48 hours

  • Apply MediCreme Antiseptic Cream (or Bepanthem First Aid Cream) twice daily. Treat the removal process the same as when you got the tattoo.

  • Cold packs can be applied for comfort over the coming weeks.

  • It’s common to develop an itching sensation in the area even weeks after a removal session. Keep the treated area covered until all irritation has subsided.

Please note:

  • If blisters form, (which is not unusual in early sessions or when your tattoo was a cover-up), do not puncture them. Let them reabsorb or break naturally and keep covered with MediPulv and a bandage.

  • Do not pick any crusting or scab as you may cause scarring.

  • Avoid swimming or using hot tubs until the skin has returned to normal.

  • Should you experience increasing pain, redness, oozing or develop a temperature over 38 degrees celsius, after the first two days, please contact your doctor immediately.
